Services and Facilities
Nursing and Retirement Residential Care is provided by our highly skilled and qualified team of dedicated Nurses and Carers, who are committed to delivering the highest standard of care, in line with Torr's Objectives, and the Residents’ rights, as detailed on their own pages.
The services and facilities our residents enjoy include:
Spacious rooms, the majority being ensuite. Being one of the highest buildings in Plymouth, many rooms have magnificent views over our gardens, Plymouth Sound, the Moors and Cornwall.- Luxurious Residents' lounge, recently refurbished, with a large television and comfortable chairs.
- A conservatory, which overlooks the garden, and is fronted by flower beds.
Dining rooms, refurbished in 2007/2008, with all new furniture.- Spacious grounds extending to approximately 3 acres, with maintained lawns and gardens.
- A wide range of activities, entertainment, and trips in our minibus, arranged by our Activities Coordinator, to stimulate physical and mental activity.
- Well balanced and varied menu's, catering for personal needs and dietary requirements.
Individual Care Plans and Personalised Support programmes, agreed between the resident, their family, and Torr Home, are developed for each resident, based on physical, social, emotional
and spiritual needs. These will be assessed prior to admission, and regularly reviewed to ensure the resident is given full support to live their life with dignity and respect.- A full laundry service is provided.
In addition, personal services such as Hairdressing and Chiropody are available, by arrangement. A charge is made for these services.
Residents are encouraged to personalise their rooms, to make them feel at home.
All personal electrical equipment is safety tested.
Respite and Convalescence Care
For short term stay, we offer both Respite and Convalescence Care.
If you want a break from your domestic situation, or wish for a "safe haven" while those around you take a break, our Respite facility is ideal.
Convalescence care, following an illness or operation, can speed up recovery, by providing good rest, a healthy diet, and 24 hour care in a safe, friendly atmosphere.
Those availing themselves of our Respite or Convalescence care enjoy exactly the same levels of care, service, comfort and facilities as our permanent residents.
Day Care
For those wishing to retain their independence, but seeking companionship and stimulation, or just relief from the daily routine, our Day Care service offers the following:
- All refreshments and lunch between 9:30 am and 4:00 pm.
- Full use of the Lounge, Conservatory, and Gardens.
- Participation in activities, entertainment, or trips in our minibus, as provided for our residents.
- Carer assisted individual bathing, by arrangement.
- Personal services such as Chiropody or Hairdressing.
Retirement Apartments
For independent living, but with easy access to our services, our retirement apartments are ideal.
We have undertaken a sympathetic development of a range of character buildings in the grounds to provide a complex of contemporarily designed 1 or 2 bed retirement apartments, available on long or short term lease.
The apartments are fully self-contained, each with a fitted kitchen, built in fridge and cooker, and are carpeted and centrally heated.
They are Double Glazed and insulated for warmth and economy.
Parking is available, and there is easy access to the beautiful gardens.
We have created a visitor apartment in the complex, for guests to stay, subject to availability.
Subject to availability, and at extra cost, tenants can enjoy and benefit from optional additional services, available from the main house.
In addition to all the features of our Daycare facility, as above, we also offer a laundry service, and meals can be arranged, either at the house, or delivered to your apartment.
