- The right to have personal privacy respected, including mail, belongings and affairs.
- The right to have his/her cultural, religious and emotional needs accepted and respected.
- The right to have his/her sexual, social and political needs respected.
- The right to mix with other people in the community, whether by going out of the care centre or by inviting people in.
- The right to information and consultation on decisions affecting his/her welfare, including daily living arrangements and to participate in any discussions on proposed changes.
- The right to have full information on how to gain access to the statutory complaints procedure and to be represented by a friend or advocate if they wish.
- The right to expect that staff have the appropriate skills and display sensitive care so as to achieve the highest quality of life
- The right to choose his/her own General Practitioner and Dentist and the opportunity to consult with them in private
- The right not to be moved without full consultation.
- The right to have the opportunity to be responsible for his/her own medication and to make decisions about their medical treatment.
- Residents have a responsibility to listen to and respect the views and rights of others, bearing in mind that they will be living in a small community.
