Today has been full of fun, sunshine and sweet treats across all three units!

Torr enjoyed getting hands-on in the kitchen, making chocolate cornflake nests topped with crushed mini eggs and finished with a soft mint Aero egg. There was lots of mixing, crunching and creativity involved - but the highlight was definitely licking the spoons at the end ��

Bell Torr made the most of the lovely weather, spending time relaxing in the courtyard. With refreshing drinks and fresh strawberries to enjoy, it was the perfect way to soak up the sunshine.

Glentor hosted a delightful garden tea party, where everyone tucked into the banana and chocolate chip cake they had baked earlier in the morning. The afternoon was filled with music from a variety of artists, including Katherine Jenkins, Eva Cassidy, country worship and Donna Taggart. To top it all off, there was plenty of laughter during a fun rocket launcher challenge - seeing who could send it the furthest ��

Residents Enjoy a Sunny Stoll On The Hoe

We enjoyed a wonderful visit to the Hoe this morning, and what a beautiful start to the day it was. The sunshine was generous, and although there was a light breeze, it left us all feeling refreshed - "no need for a wash", as we joked!

The sky and sea were a stunning shade of blue, creating the perfect backdrop for our outing. We brought along a flask and took time to enjoy the Easter nests we had made the day before, which made the morning feel even more special.

There was plenty of conversation, with many of us sharing fond memories of our younger days spent on the Hoe... “I used to run home from school, peel the potatoes for my mum, and then rush back out to the Hoe for a swim with my friends.”

We took a leisurely stroll along the promenade and around the monuments, even spotting the Beryl Cook artwork near the boules court - an exciting highlight for everyone.

The sound of children playing football and dogs barking added to the lively atmosphere, making it a truly joyful morning that was enjoyed by all.

A Brisk but Beautiful Day on the Moors

Our plans took an unexpected turn today when our intended stop, the Knightstone Café, turned out to be closed despite being listed as open online. Not to be discouraged, we decided to stay on the moors and try somewhere new - the charming Dartmoor Bakery .

We parked in one of the moorland bays so we could still soak in the scenery, then set off on foot along part of Drake’s Trail toward the bakery. The weather had a definite chill, with a fresh breeze that left us rosy-cheeked and feeling wonderfully invigorated.

Despite the cold, that didn’t stop us from treating ourselves to an ice cream - paired, of course, with a hot drink to keep us warm! The bakery itself was delightfully quaint, filled with an assortment of knick-knacks and featuring a beautiful mural on the wall. As we stepped inside, we were greeted by the comforting, wholesome aroma of freshly baked bread - an experience in itself.

On our way back to the bus, we took time to read a few of the local notice boards, learning about the history of the old airfield nearby. We also enjoyed watching sheep and horses grazing peacefully, alongside local dog walkers making the most of the great outdoors.

The views throughout the day were clear and truly beautiful - a perfect reminder of the simple pleasures nature offers.

To round off the trip, we enjoyed a lively sing-along during the journey, playing classics from The Beatles, Queen, and The Beautiful South - a joyful end to a lovely, if slightly unexpected, day.

A Change of Plans and a Lovely Discovery

This week’s Tuesday minibus trip took an unexpected but delightful turn. Our original plan was to visit the new Strawberry Fields café on Dartmoor; however, as we drove past, it was clear just how popular it is, with cars queued out onto the main road and every table seemed full!

With a quick change of plan, we continued on to The Burrator Inn instead - and what a wonderful decision that turned out to be. We discovered a lovely, cosy pub with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, perfect for relaxing and enjoying each other’s company. Although this visit was a shorter stop, it’s certainly somewhere we’d love to return to on a sunnier day. Next time, we may even turn it into a longer afternoon outing, perhaps enjoying a packet of crisps and a refreshing alcoholic beverage rather than just a cuppa.

The journey itself was just as enjoyable as the destination. Driving across the moors gave us a beautiful change of scenery from our usual city surroundings, offering open views and a peaceful landscape that everyone appreciated.

We’re still very much looking forward to visiting Strawberry Fields in the near future. With a bit of forward planning - such as reserving a table and arranging a disabled parking space - we hope to make the most of everything it has to offer.

A change of plans can sometimes lead to the best discoveries, and this trip was a perfect example of that.

Blooming Together: Residents Enjoyed a Joyful Flower Festival Ahead of Mother’s Day

A joyful flower festival brought together residents from all three units today, as everyone prepared for the upcoming Mother’s Day celebrations this Sunday.

The event gave residents the opportunity to create their own beautiful flower bouquets, filling the room with vibrant colours and delightful floral scents. It was a wonderful chance for everyone to share their knowledge of flowers, exchange stories, and enjoy warm conversations together.

Laughter and creativity flowed as each bouquet took shape, with residents carefully selecting and arranging their favourite blooms. The activity not only encouraged creativity but also brought a lovely sense of community and togetherness.

Most importantly, the day was about spreading smiles and a little happiness to others. The finished bouquets will be shared and enjoyed as part of the Mother’s Day celebrations, making the occasion even more special for everyone involved.

It was a truly uplifting day, reminding us how simple moments of creativity, connection, and kindness can brighten someone’s day.

Torr Home Flower Event - Wednesday 11th March 2026 ��

Torr Home is delighted to invite friends and families to join us for a special Flower Display Event on Wednesday 11th March 2026 .

On the day, residents and guests will come together to create beautiful flower arrangements, enjoy good company, and celebrate the arrival of spring with colour and creativity. This relaxed and friendly activity is a wonderful opportunity for residents to spend time with loved ones while taking part in something fun and uplifting.

Guests are also warmly encouraged to bring along their own flower displays from home to showcase their creativity. All displays will be admired by our residents and staff, and there will be a chance to win a prize for the best arrangement!

Whether you’re joining in with the flower arranging or simply coming along to enjoy the atmosphere, we would love to see you there. It promises to be a lovely afternoon filled with flowers, laughter, and community spirit.
