Coronavirus update for visitors to Torr Home and the Glentor Centre

As a precautionary measure, we have taken the decision to temporarily close Torr Home and the Glentor Centre to visitors until we are advised it is safe to reopen. This is to protect those living at the home to minimise the threat of the Coronavirus

Under extreme circumstances, access will only be given to immediate family under the discretion of the Senior Duty staff.

We ask for your full cooperation at this time as we face this difficult time in our nation.

When are you usually open for visits?

Please note the above advice supersedes this, however under normal operations we would have an open door policy when it comes to either having a look around the home or for visiting loved ones already residing with us. The only times we may ask for privacy is over mealtimes to protect the dignity of our residents. If you are visiting during these times, please don’t be offended if we are unable to show you areas such as the Dining Rooms.

Where are you based?

We are about a 5 minute drive from the city centre. The easiest way to find us is to put our postcode into SatNav – PL3 5SY. We are also only a short walk from main bus routes and we have ample parking on site for visitors. The entrance to Torr Home is on the corner where Tor Crescent meets Lyndrick Road. Please have a look at the map on our Contact Us page.

How much are the room rates?

Our rates are the same for both nursing and residential care however, as the rooms vary in size, location and view, the prices reflect this. Please contact us to receive an exact cost. We do accept top up where part of the costs are funded, this can be discussed fully should you or your loved one wish to take a room with us.

Do you have availability?

We do our best to accommodate those that require a room immediately, however for those with a less urgent need, if there isn’t a room available, a waiting list is in operation.

Which of my personal belongings can I bring with me?

Each of our rooms, both in Torr Home and the Glentor Centre are fully equipped with a bed, furniture and a TV, however we are more than happy for you to bring in furniture from home such as chairs, chest of drawers, side tables and pictures to hang to help make the space more personal to you.

Can my family stay over when they visit?

We have a guest apartment within the grounds of the home that visitors can rent out in advance should you wish. The apartment is fully equipped with everything to make a home from home and can be booked with the apartment Warden. We also have a relatives room within Torr Home itself where relatives can relax and enjoy a quiet hot drink.
