FAQs

COVID UPDATE - We are now open to visitors, but would please ask that you call reception on 01752 771710 before you visit so that we are able to update you with our current visiting procedures. Should we have an outbreak of COVID at the home, we may need to shut both Torr Home and the Glentor Centre to visitors and your visit may be cancelled at short notice. This is to protect the welfare of our residents and we continue to follow all government guidelines as well as our own robust infection control policies.

  • When are you usually open for visits?

Please note that the above advice supercedes this, however under normal circumstances we have an open door policy. This cover both visits to the home to view the environment and visits to loved ones in our care. The only time we may ask for privacy is during mealtimes to protect the dignity of our residents. If you are visiting during these times, please don't be offended if we are unable to grant you access to the dining rooms.

  • Where are you based?

We are around a 5-minute drive from the city centre in Plymouth. The easiest way to find us is to put our postcode into a sat-nav - PL3 5SY. We are only a short walk from the main bus routes and we have ample parking available for visitors. The entrance to Torr Home is on the corner where Torr Crescent meets Lyndrick Road. Please have a look at the map on the contact page to view our precise location.

  • How much are your room rates?

Our rates are the same for both nursing and residential care, however as the rooms vary in size, location and view, the prices do reflect this. Please contact us to receive an exact price. We do accept top ups, where part of the cost is funded and this can be discussed fully should you or your loved one wish to take a room here.

  • Do you have availability?

We do our best to accommodate all requests, however for less urgent needs, a waiting list may be in operation.

  • Which of my belongings can I bring with me?

All of our rooms, in Torr Home, Belltor and the Glentor Centre are fully equipped with a bed, furniture and a TV, however we are more than happy for you to bring furniture from home. This can include chairs, chest of drawers, side tables and pictures to hang on the walls and make the space more personal to you.

  • Can my family stay over when they visit?

We have a guest apartment within the grounds of the home that visitors can rent out when required. The apartment is fully equipped with everything to make a home from home and can be booked through the apartment warden. We also have a relatives room within Torr Home where relatives can relax and enjoy a quiet hot drink.
