A Change of Plans and a Lovely Discovery

This week’s Tuesday minibus trip took an unexpected but delightful turn. Our original plan was to visit the new Strawberry Fields café on Dartmoor; however, as we drove past, it was clear just how popular it is, with cars queued out onto the main road and every table seemed full!

With a quick change of plan, we continued on to The Burrator Inn instead - and what a wonderful decision that turned out to be. We discovered a lovely, cosy pub with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, perfect for relaxing and enjoying each other’s company. Although this visit was a shorter stop, it’s certainly somewhere we’d love to return to on a sunnier day. Next time, we may even turn it into a longer afternoon outing, perhaps enjoying a packet of crisps and a refreshing alcoholic beverage rather than just a cuppa.

The journey itself was just as enjoyable as the destination. Driving across the moors gave us a beautiful change of scenery from our usual city surroundings, offering open views and a peaceful landscape that everyone appreciated.

We’re still very much looking forward to visiting Strawberry Fields in the near future. With a bit of forward planning - such as reserving a table and arranging a disabled parking space - we hope to make the most of everything it has to offer.

A change of plans can sometimes lead to the best discoveries, and this trip was a perfect example of that.
